What We Believe

What we believe...

About God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became human to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal second Person of the Trinity who was united forever with a true human nature by a miraculous conception and virgin birth. He lived a life of perfect obedience and voluntarily atoned for the sins of everyone (past, present & future) by dying on the cross.  With this gracious action, divine justice was accomplished and salvation was provided for any who puts their faith in Him alone. After his death, Jesus rose from the dead in the same body in which He lived (though glorified in the resurrection). He ascended into heaven, where He now serves as the only mediator between God and man, continually making intercession on behalf of all Christ followers.  He will come again to earth, personally and visibly, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

The Christian Life
The essential accompaniment of a genuine saving relationship with Jesus Christ, is a life set apart to live by grace in accordance with scriptural principles.  The empowerment to live this life is initially attained by Christ followers the moment they put their faith in Jesus Christ.  At that moment (also known as the point of salvation), the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity, permanently indwells each believer, becoming the source of assurance, strength, empowerment and wisdom, and uniquely endowing each person with gifts for personal growth and encouraging others.  The Holy Spirit also guides believers in understanding and applying the Scripture. The Holy Spirit's power and control are appropriated by faith, making it possible for each believer to lead a life of Christ-like character and to express love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control to the encouragment of others and the glory of God.

About the Bible
The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, composed of the combined 66 books of the Old and New Testament. We believe that Bible in its entirety, originated with God who chose various men throughout history to reveal hope to humanity.  We believe that the Bible is a reflection of diverse cultures, backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors and must be interpreted within proper context for accurate life application.  We hold that the Bible is the unique, full, and final authority on all matters of our faith and how we live it out.

About Humanity
We believe that all people were created in the image of God and for fellowship with God, but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation
We believe that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ.  This was a sufficient and permanent gift of forgiveness to humanity for all sins.

About the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, which is under the authority and headship of Jesus Christ.  Those who choose to partner with the church have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God, love each other and make the hope of Christ known to the world.  This church recognizes that it cannot bind the conscience of individual members in areas where Scripture is silent. Rather, each believer is to be led in those areas by God, to whom he or she alone is ultimately responsible.
